The Sawai Mansingh Stadium is a cricket ground located in Jaipur in Rajasthan. The stadium is named after King Sawai Mansingh under whose rule the stadium was built. In 2006, the stadium was put through a massive renovation project & the capacity was subsequently increased to 30,000. Since the 1980s, many cricket matches has been played here.
The stadium has hosted only one test match so far which was played between India & Pakistan in the year 1987. That match was witnessed by the then Pakistani President General Zia-ul-Haq as part of his cricket diplomacy to normalize ties with India. The first ODI on this ground was played in 1983 between the same two teams. Current Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (183*) holds the record for highest individual ODI score on this ground.
