Big Bash League 2017-18 Schedule

Big Bash League 2017-18 Schedule cricket Tournament will start on Dec 19, 2017 in Australia. The last match of the tournament will be held on Feb 4, 2018.
The Australian Cricket has seen the rise of T20 cricket even before the format got foothold on international platform. The KFC Twenty20 Big Bash tournament has been quenching the thirst of cricket admirers for fast paced cricket since 2005, while first T20 international event happened in 2007 with ICC T20 World Cup. The tournament served as the domestic T20 tournament for Australia and was sponsored by fast food chain KFC. This tournament received a face lift and surfaced as the Big Bash League in 2011. While the earlier tournament was state team based, the Big Bash League is more on the lines of Indian Premier League involving 8 privately owned city based franchise teams.

The teams finishing on the top two positions of the point table in the Big Bash League get an opportunity to compete in the ICC Champions League T20 tournament, which involves top teams from league based tournaments round the globe. Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunders are the eight competing city based franchise teams of Big Bash tournament.

The inaugural edition of Big Bash League, held in the year 2011, was won by Sydney Sixers. The last edition of Big Bash League that is of 2012 was won by Brisbane Heat. On both occasions, Perth Scorchers ended up as runners up for the tournament, the final being played on their home ground on both occasions. The third season of Big Bash League is scheduled to begin from 20 December 2013 and shall continue until 7 February 2014, wherein the 8 participating teams shall compete in a round Robin manner followed by knock out stages up to the finals. In the two seasons, Aaron Finch has emerged as highest scorer while Brad Hogg is highest wicket taker.
