The Punjab Kings is a private franchise Twenty20 cricket team currently playing in the Indian Premier League. The team is currently based in Mohali, Punjab. But it also has an additional venue in Dharmasala in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The team is owned by a group of people which includes Bollywood star Preity Zinta.
The team is currently captained by ex-Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist & coached by another Australian Michael Bevan. Other notable players in the team includes Shaun March, David Hussey, Ryan McLaren, Piyush Chawla, Dinesh Karthik, Praveen Kumar, Stuart Broad, Ryan Harris etc.
Earlier the team was captained by Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh who was replaced in the latest season by Gilchrist due to the team's continuing poor performance in the tournament. Only once the team could reach the semi-finals of the IPL in its first edition in 2008.
