Cricket is not one of the most popular sports in Netherlands. But it has a national team all right. Netherlands cricket became a part of the ICC way back in 1966. Currently it is an associate member of the body sanctioned to play ODIs & first-class matches. The team has participated in four World Cups so far (1996, 2003, 2007 & 2011) & has exited the tournament in the very first round every time. The team's performance in the other tournaments has not been that great either. The team has so far won only two tournaments. In 1998 it won the European Championship followed by its win in 2001 of the ICC Trophy.

Players from Netherlands national team have played in various counties in England. Recently their well-known all-rounder, Ryan Ten Doeschate, was bought at the IPL auctions by Kolkata Knight Riders. Team's fast bowler Dirk Nannes currently plays for the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL & has played for the Australian team Victorian Bushrangers earlier.

Peter Borren is currently the captain of the team while the coaching work is handled by Peter Drinnen.
