Owing to these reasons, the International Cricket Council has included considerable number of Test series in its 2011-12 calendars. And amongst them, one of the most anticipated Test encounters will be between England, and Asian giants Sri Lanka. This series, beginning in the first quarter of 2012, promises to produce enthralling and exciting cricketing action.

England tour of Sri Lanka 2012 will begin in the latter half of March 2012. According to the cricket schedule crafted by the International Cricket Council, England will be visiting Sri Lanka for a Test Series comprising of two Test matches. This international bilateral fixture will have the two heavyweights of world cricket engaging in the longest format of the game, with the aim of procuring the top spot in Test rankings. This series, just like all the others, is a part of the Future Tour Programs, an innovative and exciting idea framed by the ICC, with the intention of globalizing the sport, thereby providing a chance to all the cricketing nations.

The series will span from the last week of March, to the early half of April. Both these teams have some tremendous credibility in the Test arena, in the last few years. England, under the leadership of Strauss, is an emerging side, budding with fresh and raw talent. On the other hand, the Sri Lankan unit is as lethal as any top class team in the world. The best thing about Sri Lanka is the availability of a balanced team, with a right mix of batsmen, bowlers and all-rounder. Even their reserve bench is quite strong. It will be a tough series for both these teams, as no stone will be left unturned to gain the zenith spot in Test Cricket.
