Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be the two teams participating in the inaugural match of the Asia Cup 2014 on 25th of February at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium. India will play its first match in the tournament a day after that against the hosts Bangladesh at the same venue.

The most awaited fixture of the competition will take place on the 2nd of March when the two arch rivals India and Pakistan lock horns with each other. In the last edition of the Asia Cup, the men in blue had absolutely thrashed their neighbours courtesy of a crushing hundred by their vice captain Virat Kohli, but, this time around, the result might be different as the Indian team is going through a lean patch.

There will be only two rounds in the Asia Cup 2014. The first will be the preliminary one in which every team play 4 matches. And, after that, there will be the final round in which the top two teams of the preliminary round will play against each other.

Generally, when a multi team event is organized in Bangladesh, big cities like Dhaka and Chittagong host the matches, but, because of the security concerns in those cities, it has been decided by the Bangladesh Cricket Board that the matches will take place at the smaller venues like Fatullah and Mirpur on this occasion.

As per the Asia Cup 2014 schedule, all the matches in the tournament will be the day night matches. It clearly means that dew will play a big role as its winter time in the subcontinent. The team bowling second will have big disadvantage.
