New Zealand’s strongest point is the depth in their batting lineup. Batters like Brendon McCullum, Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson, have been the strength of the Kiwis squad. Martin Guptill is the batter who has made the most runs in T20I for New Zealand. As of November 2021, he is the only batsman of New Zealand who has crossed the 3000 mark in the T20 international for New Zealand.

Martin Guptill, the right-handed opener of the New Zealand team, is at the top position for making the most runs in T20I for New Zealand. The timing of his strokes is the central tenant of his hitting and he is skilled enough to deal with both pace and him. This ability makes him one of the most dangerous batsmen for the opponent and his 3000+ runs shows his batting capacity. He made his debut against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground on Feb 15, 2009, where he opened with McCullum but unfortunately could open his account and was dismissed for 0 runs. Since his debut, he has played an important role and scored 3147 runs from 105 innings at a strike rate of 135.65.

Another opener of the New Zealand, Brendon McCullum is at the number 2nd position for hitting the most runs in T20I for New Zealand. He was a right-handed opening batsman who has scored 2140 runs from 70 innings at a strike rate of 136.21. He played his first T20 international match against Australia at Eden Park on Feb 17, 2005, where he scored 36 runs from  24 balls. Brendon McCullum, unquestionably one of the best openers of New Zealand, describes himself by the word “Brash” which means rude.

Kane Williamson, the current captain of New Zealand, is at the number 3 position for making the most runs in a T20 international for New Zealand. Since 2011, he has played 74 T20I and scored 2021 runs from 72 innings at a strike rate of 123.98. He made his debut against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on Oct 15, 2011, and he played his last T20I against Australia in the final of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup where he performed very well and scored 85 runs from 48 balls.

  1. Ross Taylor (1909 Runs)

Ross Taylor, the right-handed batter of New Zealand, is the next name in the list to add for making the most runs in a T20 international for New Zealand. He was the key player of New Zealand who served his nation from 2006 to 2020 in T20 internationals. He started his T20 international career against Sri Lanka at Sky Stadium on Dec 22, 2006. Since his debut, he has scored 1909 runs from 94 innings at a strike rate of 122.37.

  1. Colin Munro (1724 Runs)

Colin Munro, the former right-handed opener of New Zealand, is at the number 4th position for making the most runs in T20I for New Zealand. He made his debut against South Africa at Kingsmead, on Dec 21, 2012. From 2012 to 2020, he has served his nation in 65 T20 internationals and has scored 1724 runs from 62 innings at a strike rate of 156.44.
