In any format of cricket, captaincy is not an easy task and it may be difficult that can bring down the performance of many players. On the other hand, leading a national team on the international level is a great privilege for any cricket player. Let's look at the most finest and successful captains in T20 internationals and who has got the record of most T20 wins as captain.

Most T20 Wins as Captain

Asghar Afghan (Win % - 80.77)

Asghar Afghan, captain of the Afghanistan team, is surprisingly at the top position for most T20 wins as a captain in the T20I. As of Oct 2021, he has led the team in 52 matches and achieved 42 victories that make him hold the record of most t20 wins in T20I with a winning percentage of 80.77. He started his career at the international level in T20 against Ireland at P Sara Oval on Feb 01, 2010. He is a right-handed batsman and has scored 1317 runs at a strike rate of 109.66 in his T20I career.

Sarfaraz Ahmed (Win % - 78.37)

Sarfaraz Ahmed, the former captain of the Pakistan team, is in the 2nd position for most T20 wins as captain in T20I. As a captain, he has played 37 matches from 2016-2019 and won 29 matches with a winning percentage of 78.37. He made his debut in a T20 international against England at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Feb 19 in 2010. As of Oct 2021, he has played 60 T20I matches and scored 812 runs at a strike rate of 126.68 with an average of 28.0.

Graeme Smith (Win % - 66.66)

Graeme Smith, former captain of South Africa, is at the number 3 position for the most T20 wins as captain. He has led the team from 2005-2010 in 27 matches as a captain and achieved victory in 18 matches with a winning percentage of 66.66. He is one of the best left-handed openers in South Africa and has scored 982 runs at a strike rate of 127.53. Smith made his debut in T20I against New Zealand at The Wanderers Stadium on Oct 21, 2005.

Virat Kohli (Win % - 60.00)

Virat Kohli, captain of the Indian cricket team in all formats, is sitting at the 4th position for the most T20 wins as captain in the T20 international. After Dhoni, he became the captain of the Indian team in 2017 and has led the team in 45 T20I matches. He has registered 27 wins in T20I as a captain with a winning percentage of 60.00. He is regarded as the most successful captain of the Indian team till now.

Faf du Plessis (Win % - 60.00)

Faf du Plessis, former captain of the South Africa team, is at the number 5th position for the most T20 wins as captain at the international level. From 2012-2019, he has led the team in 40 matches and got the wins in 24 matches with a winning percentage of 60.00. His winning percentage is the same as Virat Kohli, but Faf du Plessis’s loss percentage is more than that of Virat, so he is placed after Virat Kohli. He played his first T20 international match against England at Riverside Ground on Sep 08, 2012.
