Sri Lanka Highest Score in T20
Here are the details of the highest team total of Sri Lanka in T20I:
260/6 vs Kenya – 2007
The 1st highest team score of Sri Lanka in T20I is 260 for 6 against Kenya at Johannesburg on 14 Sep 2007. This was the 8th match of the ICC World Twenty20 in 2007 where Sri Lanka, headed by Sanath Jayasuriya, thrashed Kenya by 172 runs at the Wanderers. Lanka reached an unprecedented team score of 260.6, with the help of Jayasuriya's 88 and Jehan Mubarak's late explosions. Kenya could only make 88. Mahela Jayawardene also struck 65 runs from just 27 balls. Twenty20 international records were destroyed when a 172-run winning margin set a new record. As a result of Steve Tikolo's decision to ask the opposition for batting first, Sri Lanka began their innings with the intention of reaching over 200 runs.
215/5 vs India – 2009
215/5 is the 2nd highest team score of Sri Lanka in T20I against India at Nagpur on 9 Dec 2009. In this match, Sri Lanka thrashed India by 29 runs in Nagpur and Kumar Sangakkara sparkled with his best Twenty20 score of 78 runs from 37 balls. A contribution of 47 runs from Chamara Kapugedera helped the Lankans reach 215. The target was big for India but Gautam Gambhir gave a good start and struck 55 from 26 balls. Despite a gallant effort from Gambhir, Sangakkara stole the spotlight. It took him just 21 deliveries to achieve his fifty. But it wasn't just him. Tillakaratne Dilshan, Chamara Kapugedera, and Angelo Mathews all contributed to Sangakkara's achievement.
215/3 vs West Indies – 2015
The 3rd highest team score of Sri Lanka in T20I is 215 for 3 against West Indies at Pallekele on 9 Nov 2015. In the 1st T20I match of the West Indies tour of Sri Lanka 2015 tournament, sluggish middle-order batsmen and an Angelo Mathews heroic finale propelled Sri Lanka to 215 for 3 - their best ever T20 international total - and helped them to win the match by 30 runs. While chasing, Andre Fletcher scored 57 off 25 balls, but his players struggled against Sri Lanka's spin attack and Sri Lanka bowled out the West Indies team at a total of 185 runs only.
214/6 vs Bangladesh – 2018
The 4th highest team score of Sri Lanka in T20I is 214 for 6 against Bangladesh at Colombo (RPS) on 10 Mar 2018. While batting first, Sri Lanka made a huge total of 214 runs and set the target of 215 for Bangladesh. No matter how big the goal was, or how recent their history had been with Sri Lanka. Bangladesh's top order seemed unfazed by it and started well. In the middle order, Mushfiqur Rahim unleashed one of the best T20 innings. He scored an incredible 72 off 35 balls and dominated both spin and seam. Despite making the highest total on that ground, Sri Lanka lost the match by 5 wickets.
211/3 vs Pakistan – 2013
The 5th highest team score of Sri Lanka in T20I is 211 against Pakistan at Dubai (DSC) on 13 Dec 2013. Pakistan invited the opposition to bat first which proved to be a bad decision as Sri Lank achieved a total of 211 runs on the scoreboard. Amazing 84 runs from 59 balls from Kusal Perera and Sangakkara’s unbeaten 44 from 21 balls helped them to reach this total, which was not easy for Pakistan. And finally, the Pakistani team surrendered at the score of 187 in 19.2 overs.
