When the Indian cricket team won the inaugural T20 World Cup back in 2007, it established its mark in the shortest version of the game. A number of victories and some of the best T20I scores have followed since then. India has a decent batting record in T20Is. India's T20I team has scored 200+ runs on 21 occasions. The first highest T20I score of India is 260 for 5 against Sri Lanka at Indore in 2017.

Here are the details of the highest team score of India in T20I:
260/5 vs Sri Lanka – 2017
The first highest score of team India is 260/5 against Sri Lanka at Indore on 22 Dec 2017. With the help of the great opening partnership of 165 runs between Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, the team successfully put 260 on the scoreboard. Rohit Sharma was the captain of the team and he made 118 runs from just 43 balls. KL Rahul also supported him well and contributed 89 runs from 49 balls. While chasing the big target of 261 runs, Sri Lankan top-order batsmen, Upul Tharanga and Kusal Perera tried to handle the situation but could not achieve the target. The entire team was bowled out at 172 runs in 17.2 overs only. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav took a total of 7 wickets (Chahal 4, Yadav 3) in that match.
244/4 vs West Indies – 2016
The Indian team scored their 2nd T20I highest score against West Indies at Lauderhill in 2016. The West Indies team has already put a challenging target of 246 for team India with the help of Evin Lewis’s century and stunning 79 runs from Johnson Charles. Evin Lewis and KL Rahul, who replaced Chris Gayle and Shikhar Dhawan as routine opening batsmen for both the team, blasted centuries for their team. Indian team tried well to achieve the target but was left behind by 1 runs only. There were some excellent wide yorkers from India in the death overs, and that is why West Indies batsmen could make 64 in the last seven overs.
240/3 vs West Indies – 2019
The 3rd highest team score of India is 240 for 3 against West Indies at Mumbai in 2019. While batting first, the Indian team opening batsmen Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul made an incredible opening partnership of 135 runs. Then the rest of the work has completed by Virat Kohli, he struck not out 70 runs from 29 deliveries only that strengthen the Indian team to scored their 3rd highest team score. The 4th highest team score for India came in Ahmedabad against England. While batting first, India scored 224 runs against England on 20 Mar 2021 in which Virat Kohli struck unbeaten 80 runs that helped the other batsmen to play free. Also, Rohit Sharma’s 64 runs helped the team to reach 224 runs mark. Despite 130 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket, England could not achieve the target as other batsmen could not do much and fell short by 36 runs
218/4 vs England – 2007
218/4 is the 5th highest team total of India in T20I against England at Durban in 2007. This was the first T20I World Cup tournament, and it was the 21st match. This game will be remembered for the various records that India broke. Virendra Sehwag and Gambhir have already made an incredible opening partnership of 135 runs. But when Yuvraj joined the situation, the true tale began. In Stuart Broad's last over, he blasted six sixes and he completed his 50 off just 12 balls. While chasing the target, England had a promising start but couldn't match Yuvraj's brilliance as they finished on 200, 19 runs behind the goal.
