The 1st highest team total of South Africa in T20I is 241 for 6 against England at Centurion on 15 Nov 2009. South Africa decided to set a big target for the opposition after winning the toss and they had done it. They had set a challenging target of 242 runs for England. The opening pair of South Africa contributed an opening partnership of 170 runs that helped them to achieve that level of the total. Graeme Smith (88 off 44) and Loots Bosman (94 off 45) left nothing much for England in the second innings. The English team could not handle the pressure of such a big target and could make only 157 runs and lost the match by 84 runs.
231/7 Vs West Indies – 2015
The 2nd highest team total of South Africa in T20I is 231 for 7 against West Indies at Johannesburg on 11 Jan 2015. While batting first, South African batsman Faf du Plessis made a century that helped them to put a score of 231 runs on the scoreboard. The target was not easy for the opposition but Chris Gayle’s stunning knock of 90 off 41 runs helped the team to achieve their most successful run chase in the shortest format of the game. Marlon Samuels also gave enough support with the bat and made 60 runs from 39 deliveries.

The 3rd highest team total of South Africa in Twenty20 International came in the match against England at Mumbai on 18 Mar 2016. It was the 18th match of the Twenty20 World Cup 2016. England won the toss and invited the Africans to bat first. South Africa set a big target of 230 runs for England. Jason Roy and Joe Root showed an excellent effort and achieved the second-highest successful target in T20 internationals. Despite a big total, South African bowlers could not control English batters and lost the match.
224/4 Vs Bangladesh – 2017
The 4th highest team total of South Africa is 224 runs against Bangladesh at Potchefstroom on 29 Oct 2017. David Miller scored the fastest T20I century in the history of the game, scoring a 100 in 35 balls. After scoring 85 off 51 balls, Hashim Amla was also ready for a century but was bowled out in the 17th over. Bangladesh while chasing the target of 225 runs, could make only 141 and all out in 18.3 overs only.
222/6 Vs England – 2020
222 is the 5th highest total scored by the South African squad against England at Centurion on 16 Feb 2020. Heinrich Klaasen (66 off 33) and Temba Bavuma (49 off 24) helped SA to get the total of 222 on the scoreboard. But on the other side, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, and Eoin Morgan replied to African bowlers very well and got the target in 19.1 overs.
