In the final encounter of the five-match series against Bangladesh in Dhaka on 9 Aug 2021, Australia's fall in the shorter format reached a new low. While trying to chase down an ambitious target of 123, they ended up bowled out for just 62 runs, their lowest score in this format of cricket. Australia’s batting lineup was demolished in just 13.4 overs by Shakib al Hasan (4 for 9) and Mohammad Saifuddin (3 for 12). There were only two batters out of 11 that struggled to secure double digits in the scoring column. Mathew Wade scored 22 runs on the line, while Ben McDermott made 17 runs.
79 Vs England 2005
The 2nd lowest team total of Australia is 79 runs against England at Southampton on 13 Jun 2005. England captain, Michael Vaughan, decided to set the target for Australia and they successfully put a defending total of 179 runs on the scoreboard. Aussies on the other hand struggled from the beginning and could not manage to cross the 100 runs mark. They were bowled out at the score of 79 runs in 14.3 overs only. John Lewis (4 for 24) and Darren Gough (3 for 16) destroyed the Austalian batting lineup.

The 3rd lowest team total of Australia in T20I came against India at Dhaka on 30 Mar 2014 in the World T20 of 2013/14. The Indian team struggled at the beginning while batting first but Yuvraj Singh’s 60 runs from 43 balls managed them to get a defending total of 159/7. During the chase, Australian batsmen could handle Ravichandran Ashwin’s spin attack and the entire team was wiped out at 86 in just 16.2 overs. Ashwin took 4 wickets in the match and became the Man of the Match.

When Australia played Pakistan in a bilateral series in Dubai in 2012, the Aussies were outscored by 89 runs in the opening T20I. When it came time to bat, Pakistan had 14.5 overs to knock down the target and won by seven wickets.
