South Africa Lowest Score in T20I
Here are the details of the lowest team total of South Africa in T20I:
89 Vs Australia – 2020
The 1st lowest team total of South Africa is 89 runs against Australia at Johannesburg on 21 Feb 2020. South Africa was bowled out for their lowest score in T20I cricket and Ashton Agar claimed his 13th hat-trick in T20I cricket and the second for Australia after Brett Lee's. Agar concluded with a career-best 5 for 24 to lead Australia to their seventh consecutive T20I victory. South Africa got the target of 197 runs but could make only 89 runs in 14.3 overs and lost the match with a big margin.
96 Vs Australia – 2020
The 2nd lowest team total of South Africa is 96 runs that came against Australia at Cape Town on 26 Feb 2020. Although South Africa's five-man fielding assault conceded runs in the early half of Australia's innings after opting to field first, it was their batting order that was the major problem for the team. Australia’s openers Warner and Finch struck a half century for their team that helped them to reach 193 total. South Africa on the other hand could make only 96 runs and wipe out in 15.3 overs.
98 Vs Sri Lanka - 2018
A new low for South Africa's batsmen was reached when they were bowled out for their lowest T20I total of 98 runs against Sri Lanka at Colombo (RPS) on 14 Aug 2018. South Africa made 98 runs only but it was not an easy chase for Sri Lanka, they also struggled at the beginning but achieved the target with 24 balls remaining. Dinesh Chandimal’s unbeaten 36 from 33 balls helped the Sri Lanka to beat the visitors by 3 wickets.
100 Vs Pakistan – 2013
The 4th lowest team total of South Africa is 100 runs that came against Pakistan at Centurion on 3 Mar 2013. Pakistan's win was secured when Mohammed Hafeez and Umar Gul redirected their trip. The absence of Dale Steyn allowed Hafeez to play freely and confidently. In doing so, he became the first Pakistani batsman to reach 1,000 Twenty20 runs and set a new record for the format. 83 runs with Ahmed Shehzad and good timing let him put Pakistan up for victory. Umar Gul (5 for 6 runs) completely demolished half of the opposition’s batting lineup.
101/7 Vs Australia – 2014
Australian bowlers limited South Africa to 7 for 101 at the MCG, leading to one of their greatest dominant Twenty20 victories. Pat Cummins and James Faulkner were all crucial parts of the action and left the batters with very little work to do. After electing to bat, South Africa never really went out of the starting blocks and never really found its rhythm. It was just JP Duminy who made it over 20, and the constant loss of wickets prevented them from gaining any confidence. This was South Africa's lowest total playing first in a T20 international.
