Check 5 New Zealand Lowest Score in T20
60 Vs Sri Lanka – 2014
The 1st lowest team total of New Zealand is 60 runs against Sri Lanka at Chattogram on 31 Mar 2014. After seeing his teammates struggle, Rangana Herath delivered a stunning Twenty20 performance, picking up five wickets for three runs as Sri Lanka held NZ to 119. While Kane Williamson struck well, getting 42 out of 43 balls - the game's highest score – his efforts were in vain. New Zealand batsmen could not stay longer against Herath and bowled out at 60 in 19.2 overs.
60 vs Bangladesh, 2021
The 2nd lowest total of NZ is again 60 runs which was made recently while touring Bangladesh on Sept 1, 2021. New Zealand team got all out in just 16.5 overs. Only two players scored double digit i.e. 18 each. Bangladesh chase down this target easily in just 15 over. Shakib al Hasan got player of the match award.
80 Vs Pakistan – 2010
The 3rd lowest team total of New Zealand is 80 runs against Pakistan at Christchurch on 30 Dec 2010. Pakistan decided to bat first after winning the toss and gave a challenging target of 184 runs to New Zealand. Ahmed Shehzad struck a stunning half-century that helped to build the first wicket partnership of 81 runs. New Zealand batsmen on the other hand could not afford the Pakistani bowlers and were bowled out at 80 in 15.5 overs only. No one except Scott Styris crossed the 10 runs marks in the batting lineup.
81 Vs Sri Lanka – 2010
The 4th lowest score of NZ in T20I is 81 runs against Sri Lanka at Lauderhill on 23 May 2010. Nuwan Kulasekara took three wickets in his first over, destroying New Zealand's batsmen with the right lengths and lines on the slow and low pitch that the USA has provided. Even if only Daniel Vettori and Nathan McCullum scored more than ten runs for New Zealand, 81 was never going to be enough to challenge Sri Lanka on this wicket. Kulasekara's opening two overs - three wickets in the first and no runs in the second - were vital in the victory.
86 Vs South Africa – 2012
With so much relying on new skipper Brendon McCullum, a weak batting order was always going to suffer. New Zealand was stopped at another low of 86 runs at Durban on 21 Dec 2012. South Africa, with a new captain and mentor, appeared to be in good shape. Ross Taylor's absence was evident, and Martin Guptill was also kept out of the match due to a viral illness. For whatever reason, the batsmen were anxious to utilize the Powerplay, and they paid the price for their reckless approach. To at least get them over the 80 marks, Doug Bracewell made an undefeated 21 at number nine.
88 Vs Sri Lanka – 2019
The 7th lowest team total of New Zealand in T20I is 88 against Sri Lanka at Pallekele on 6 Sep 2019. Sri Lanka gave a target of 126 runs which was looking so easy for Kiwis. It nearly looked like a sure thing that New Zealand would accomplish a whitewash as they started their innings. Sri Lanka had struggled with the bat on a sluggish, shifting surface. Malinga, on the other hand, turned his team's hitting problems, as well as the pitch itself, meaningless. An incredible 5 for 6 performance by Malinga unsettles the New Zealanders. Malinga’s hat trick helped Lanka to stop Kiwis at 88 runs and achieved a victory by 37 runs.
