New Zealand Team Squad for T20 World Cup 2021
As a result of the COVID-19 concern, the BCCI shifted the T20 World Cup and the second leg of the IPL 2021 to the United Arab Emirates. As part of the T20 World Cup's Group 2, New Zealand will compete against India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and two qualifiers.
In anticipation of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021, New Zealand cricket has chosen a 15-member team for the tournament. New Zealand has never been able to reach the final in the ICC T20 World cup. In the ICC T20 World Cup, they reached the semi-finals two times in the year 2007 and 2016 but could not qualify for finals.
Ross Taylor, an experienced batter, and Colin de Grandhomme, an all-rounder, were left out of the T20 World Cup team. These are two notable absentees, Taylor and de Grandhomme. Taylor has played 102 T20Is while de Grandhomme hasn't played a T20I since January 2020. Super Smash run-scorer Allen was also left out.
All-star bowlers lead Kane Williamson's side in the attempts to win the Men's T20 World Cup for the first time. There are three bowlers in the top 10 of the ICC T20I rankings i.e, Ish Sodhi, Mitchell Santner, and Tim Southee, along with Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson, and Todd Astle.
With Williamson, Martin Guptill, and Devon Conway at the crease, the NZ team will have enough talent. Both batsmen are sitting in the top ten of the ICC T20I batting rankings. Wicketkeeper Tim Seifert and all-rounders Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, and Mark Chapman are the added advantage on the New Zealand side. New Zealand's batting order will be both strong and flexible. Adam Milne has been picked as the 16th man and will join the squad for the competition. In addition to being named the 16th man, Adam Milne will be participating in the competition. He will be seen in the field only during the event of an injury to a member of the team. New Zealand's T20 tour of India later this year will include the same lineup.
New Zealand's visit to Asia will include tours to Bangladesh and Pakistan before the T20 World Cup and T20I and Test series in India thereafter. For the upcoming visits to Bangladesh and Pakistan, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has announced noticeably different teams in contrast to their T20 World Cup team. Cole McConchie and Ben Sears are among the 32 players who will participate in the winter tours for the first time. New Zealand will be led by Tom Latham on both trips, with the fresh coaching staff. The regular captain Kane Williamson and coach Gary Stead will return for their responsibilities in the T20 World Cup.
Ross Taylor has been picked for the one-week ODI series against Pakistan. He'll stay in New Zealand to practice for the India Test series and the forthcoming season in New Zealand.
