In One Day International, batsmen play an important role in chasing the target in the second inning. When a batsman performs well and makes big runs as per need of the required run rate then it helps the team to get the target very comfortably. There are many players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Mahendra Sing Dhoni, Herschelle Gibbs, Shane Watson, Steven Smith, Brian Lara, and many more, who have given their best to chase the target in the second inning. The highest individual score in ODI in the 2nd inning is unbeaten 185 runs added by Australian Shane Watson while chasing the target of 230 runs against Bangladesh at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on 11th April 2011. The phenomenal match-winning inning of Shane Watson helped the team to achieve the target in just 26 overs.

The 2nd highest individual score in the second inning is 183 runs made by Indian Skipper Virat Kohli in the Micromax Asia Cup 2011/12 ODI against Pakistan at Mirpur on 18th March. Pakistan set a big and challenging target of 330 runs for India but the incredible game of Virat Kohli with his partners Sachin Tendulkar, and Rohit Sharma made it easy for them and attained it in 47.5 overs only.

The 3rd highest individual score in ODI in the second inning is unbeaten 183 runs scored by Indian Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on 31 October 2005. Kumar Sangakkara played an awesome unbeaten inning of 132 runs from Sri Lanka’s side in the first inning that helped them to put a target of 299 runs for India. India lost Sachin Tendulkar very early then Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the number 3 position played an incredible knock of unbeaten 183 runs with ten 6s and fifteen 4s and got the target in 46.1 overs only.

For India, the highest individual score in ODI in the 2nd inning is 183 runs recorded by Virat Kohli then Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s unbeaten 183 runs at the second number, and Sachin Tendulkar comes at the number 3 position with his 175 runs in the history of the One Day International.
