Highest 7th Wicket Partnership in Test
Test cricket team always includes a player at the number 8th position who can bat and bowl both and we have seen many times that the 8th position player has also performed well with the bat. Lower order players have proved that they can also bat and give their contribution in any critical situation. Players like Depeiaza, Imtiaz Ahmed, Jason Holder, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mitchell Santner, Saqlain Mushtaq, and many more have made centuries in their test career being bat at 8 positions. Ravichandran Ashwin who is the main spin bowler of the Indian team has struck 5 centuries in his Test career. The highest 7th wicket partnership in test cricket is 347 runs scored by Denis Atkinson and Clairmonte Depeiaza against Australia at Bridgetown on 14 May 1955. In that match, West Indies were trailing and had already lost 6 wickets at 147 runs only. Then Clairmonte Depeiaza at number 8 struck a century and supported his captain very well and saved the match.
The second-highest 7th wicket partnership in test cricket is 308 runs struck by Waqar Hasan and Imtiaz Ahmed against New Zealand at Lahore on 26 Oct 1955. Waqar Hasan made a century and Imtiaz Ahmed scored a double century for the 7th wicket in that match. The third-highest partnership for the 7th wicket is unbeaten 295 scored by Shane Dowrich and Jason Holder against England at Bridgetown on 23 Jan 2019. Once, West Indies and Pakistan have struck 300+ runs for the 7th wicket in test cricket. There have been 16 times when a team has scored 200 or more total for the 7th wicket in the test matches.
