Highest 10th Wicket Partnership in ODI
In One Day International cricket, the last man of any team does get enough time and deliveries to score a big total in pairs, so a team can’t rely on him for huge runs. The 11th player of any cricket team is chosen as their main bowler. They do not have ample batting skills to perform well with the bat. There are some instances in the past when players at the 11th position performed and have put big totals in pairs for the 10th wicket. Some of them are Michael Holding, Saeed Ajmal, Kemar Roach, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mohammad Amir, and many more. Few players have even scored more than 50 runs like Mohammad Amir has struck 58 runs against England at Nottingham on 30 Aug 2016.
The highest 10th wicket partnership in ODI is unbeaten 106 runs added by Viv Richards and Michael Holding.
There are 2 times in the history of ODI that a team has scored more than 100+ runs for the 10th wicket. These achievements have been accomplished by West Indies and Pakistan. The second highest 10th wicket partnership in ODI is 103 runs added in a record by Mohammad Amir and Saeed Ajmal against New Zealand at Abu Dhabi on 9 Nov 2009. India has never been able to put a total of 100 or more runs for the 10th wicket partnership. The highest 10th wicket partnership for India in ODI is 64 runs scored by Harbhajan Singh and Lakshmipathy Balaji against England at The Oval on 3 Sep 2004.
There are 40 moments in ODI when a team has scored 50+ total for the 10th wicket and that is also a great achievement for any team. India has put 50+ runs on the scoreboard three times for the 10th wicket. The first 50+ runs of partnership for the 10th wicket was scored by Ravi Shastri and Narendra Hirwani against West Indies at Gwalior on 22 Jan 1988.
