Even cricket enthusiasts would have lost the count for how many times star Pakistani cricket Shahid Afridi had quit the game and then again found a place back into the team. The first match in the bilateral ODI series between West Indies and Pakistan was to serve another comeback for Afridi, albeit this time it was not from one of his temporary retirements. Afridi lost his place in Pak side for the ICC Champions Trophy in which Pakistan performed miserably. The miserable performance by Pak was an indicator of coming times, that Afridi would soon be donning Pak jersey.

The comeback was as stylish as Afridi has been during his career. On a pitch which was difficult to bat, Pakistan was first to bat. The Caribbean bowling did well, with an inspiring bowling performance from Holder, and Pakistan was in a spot of bother when Shahid Afridi came to the crease. Pakistan captain Misbah was there for his company who helped the team total with a half century. However, it was Afridi who stole the show with his blitzkrieg of an innings of 76 runs in just 56 balls, which included 6 sixes.

If someone thought this was all Afridi had to offer in his comeback match, then they could not have been wrong. Afridi ripped through Caribbean batting line up and ended up with his career best bowling figure of 7 wickets for 16 runs in 9 over with 3 maidens. With no doubt, Afridi was adjudged Man of the Match.
