1. Shahid Afridi (Man of the Series in 2007)
Shahid Afridi, a former Pakistani all-rounder, won the Man of the Series award in the T20 World Cup of 2007. Pakistan reached the final and met India but could not defeat India and lost the final competition. Thus, India became the first World Champions of T20 cricket. The Pakistani all-rounder performed well throughout the entire season and took 12 wickets, he also scored 91 runs and his best performance with the bat was 46 runs.
2. Tillakaratne Dilshan (Man of the Series in 2009)
Tilakaratne Dilshan, a former all-rounder of Sri Lanka, became the Man of the series in the T20 World in 2009. Pakistan and Sri Lanka faced each other in the final competition of the T20 World Cup 2009 at Lord’s. Sri Lanka could not add a big total and lost the final but the Man of the Series crown was honored to Sri Lankan batsman Dilshan for his 317 runs at an average of 52.83 with 3 fifties. Despite getting out for 0 runs twice in the series, he became the leading scorer and only player who crossed the landmark of 300 runs.
3. Kevin Pietersen (Player of the Series in 2010)
England’s former skipper Kevin Pietersen won the title of Man of the Series award in the T20 World 2010. While playing against Australia in the final competition of the T20 World Cup 2010, Australia set a target of 148 runs for England which was achieved by England very comfortably in 17 overs. Kevin Pietersen had 47 runs in that match and overall, he added 248 runs at an average of 62 with a strike rate of 137.77. His best score in T20 World Cup 2010 was unbeaten 73 runs including 2 fifties.
4. Shane Watson (Man of the Series in 2012)
Australia did not reach the final competition of the T20 World Cup 2012 but Australian all-rounder Shane Watson got the Man of the Series award for his all-around performance. West Indies beat Sri Lanka in the final and lifted the title. Shane Watson was the leading run maker with 249 runs at an average of 49.80 with a strike rate of 150.00 and he was the second-highest wicket-taker with 11 wickets at an economy of 7.33 and an average of 16.00.
5. Virat Kohli (Man of the Series in 2014)
Virat Kohli, the run-making machine of the Indian team, was named the Man of the Series in the T20 World Cup 2014. Sri Lank won the title of the 2014 T20 World Cup but Virat Kohli was called for Man of the Series for his outstanding performance of 319 runs at an average of 106.33 with a strike rate of 123.45. Kohli was unbelievable in the entire tournament by hitting 4 fifties including 10 sixes and 24 fours in the series. In the final competition, India and Sri Lanka faced each other where India could make 130 runs. Virat added 77 off 58 balls in that match but India could not save the total and lost the match by 6 wickets.
6. Virat Kohli (Man of the Series in 2016)
Virat Kohli once again became the Man of the Series of the T20 World Cup 2016. India could not reach the final and was beaten by West Indies in the semi-final round. He is the only player who becomes the Man of the Series twice in the history of the T20 World Cup. The final was played between England and West Indies and Windies lifted the cup but Indian batsman Virat Kohli got the Man of the Series title. In the 2016 World Cup, he scored 273 runs at an average of 136.50 with a strike rate of 146.77. He struck the 3 fifties with the maximum number of 4s (29 4s) in the tournament.
7. David Warner (Player of the Series 2021)
David Warner, an Australian left-handed opener, was the Man of the Series in the T20 World Cup 2021. In the final competition of the T20 World Cup 2021, Australia met New Zealand at Dubai (DSC), where New Zealand set a target of 173 for Australia which was easily achieved by them with the help of the mind-blasting batting of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. Australia won the T20 World Cup title for the first time and Mitchell Marsh was awarded Man of the Match whereas Warner became Man of the Tournament.
