T20 World Cup 2022: The biggest carnival of cricket is just one month away. The 2022 T20 World Cup will kick off on October 16 with a match between Sri Lanka and Namibia. Australia, England, and South Africa have announced their respective squads for the tournament. The latest team to announce the squad was the Men in Blue. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming marquee tournament.

India has gone with the experienced side after not being able to put on a good show in the ICC tournaments. Notably, India won the last ICC tournament in 2013 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. It was the Champions Trophy in 2013. Since then, the trophy drought has been getting wider after every ICC event.

Indian Squad for T20 World Cup 2022

The Indian selection committee has picked the same team that played in the Asia Cup recently, with a few changes. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are back in the team. Injured Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the tournament. While veteran pacer Mohammed Shami didn’t get the chance to be in the squad. He has been picked as the standby player. Ravi Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Axar Patel will do the spinning duties.

Rohit Sharma will lead the side while KL Rahul will be the vice-captain. The batting order looks the same with Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, and Hardik Pandya. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik are the two wicket-keeper options available in the team. Shami, along with Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, and Ravi Bishnoi, are on standby.

Group and Schedule for Team India

India is placed in Group 2 of the “Super 12” stage with the other five teams. Notably, a total of 12 teams will compete in the tournament to win the trophy. Just like in the last World Cup, India and Pakistan are in the same group, along with South Africa, Bangladesh, and two qualifying teams.
