T20 World Cup: The biggest tournament of 2022 is just a few weeks away. T20 World Cup 2022 will start on October 16 with a total of 12 teams fighting to become world champions. This time, the tournament will be played in Australia on a pacey and bouncy pitch. Twelve teams will feature in two groups of six. Just like the last T20 World Cup, this will be another high-voltage tournament.
Well, the likes of England, Australia, South Africa, and India have announced their squads for the tournament, and the rest of the nations are yet to announce. One team that will enter the tournament as one of the favorites is England. The 2010 T20 World Cup winners would like to win their second championship.
England Squad for T20 World Cup 2022
England made it to the semi-finals of the 2021 T20 World Cup under the leadership of Eoin Morgan. However, they are the ODI world champions. This shows their dominance in the white-ball format. However, now that Morgan has retired, England must regroup. Jos Buttler has taken the charge and is one of the more consistent performers for the team.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced the 15-member squad for the World Cup. Buttler will lead the side and most of the players will be the same as in the last world cup. However, the poor form of Jason Roy and the injury to Jonny Bairstow has given a chance to Alex Hales to make his comeback. Phil Salt, Harry Brook, and Reece Topley will feature in their maiden tournament.
Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, Chris Woakes, and David Willey are some of the premium all-rounders in the team. Woakes and Mark Wood have returned to the team after recovering from injuries. All in all, it will be an exciting team that has the potential to dominate.
Squad: Jos Buttler (c & wk), Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, David Willey, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
Reserves: Liam Dawson, Richard Gleeson, Tymal Mills.
