T20 World Cup 2022: We are just a month away from one of the biggest cricketing tournaments, the T20 World Cup. The top 12 teams across the globe will put up a fight against one another to make it to the top. The defending champions, Australia, will have a chance to defend their title in front of the home crowd. But this time it will be more difficult as all teams mostly played T20Is this year to get ready for the big stage.
The first match is to take place on October 16 between Sri Lanka and Namibia. The top eight teams have already been confirmed. However, for the next four places, eight teams will play the qualifying rounds. The 12 teams are divided into two groups of six teams each. The final of the tournament will be played on November 13 at the MCG.
Bangladesh Squad for T20 World Cup 2022
On Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 15-member squad that will compete in the T20 World Cup 2022. After a horrible performance in the recently concluded Asia Cup and keeping in mind the way they failed badly in the World Cup 2021, the selectors have made some bold moves. Notably, after the early exit from the Asia Cup, the veteran wicket-keeper batsman Musfiqur Rahim announced his retirement from T20Is.
So he was not available for the selection. On the other hand, the former skipper and veteran all-rounder, Mahmudullah, didn’t get the plce in the team. Shakib Al Hasan, the No. 1 ranked T20I all-rounder, will lead the team in the tournament. Shabbir Rahman and Litton Hasan will be the experienced top-order batsmen.
The pace-bowling department looks good with the availability of Mustafizur Rahman, Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed, and Ebadot Hossain. Bangladesh have got a good mix of spin-bowling all-rounders, including the captain himself. All in all, they could potentially be a threat to other top teams in the competition.
Squad: Shakib Al Hasan (c), Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Litton Das, Afif Hossain, Mossadek Hossain, Najmul Hossain, Nurul Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Saifuddin, Yasir Ali, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Nasum Ahmed.
Standbys: Soumya Sarkar, Shoriful Islam, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain.
