When Twenty20 cricket was introduced, everyone believed that the West Indies would be the perfect team with so many hard-hitters in the team. In fact, they also played like that and became the first team to win the T20 World Cup twice, in 2012 and 2016, under the leadership of Darren Sammy.
This was not it; the Caribbean Team holds many records in this format. One such record is that the first T20 international century was scored by a West Indian batter. And it was Chris Gayle who scored the first ever T20I century, which is also the first in the T20 World Cup. Overall, five centuries have been registered by West Indies in the shorter format. That’s what we will check here in this article.
