Sylhet Strikers haven’t had a great history in the Bangladesh Premier League. They have always been under the pump. They have been a part of the league since the very first season in 2012 but were not part of the 2016 season. But still, the records haven’t been up to the mark. Sylhet has only qualified for the playoffs in 2013, and since then, this team hasn’t crossed the group stage in the BPL.
In the last season as well, they ended at the bottom of the table in 6th place. The franchise has changed five names since the very first season. The previous names for the franchises were Sylhet Royals, Sylhet Super Stars, Sylhet Sixers, Sylhet Thunder, and Sylhet Sunrisers. With the arrival of a new season, the hopes resurface. But this new season can end their trophy drought in the upcoming BPL season.

Sylhet Strikers Squad 2023
Sylhet Strikers will begin the new season with a new look team than the last season. Former Bangladeshi pacer Mashrafe Mortaza will captain the side. The team includes veteran pacers Mohammed Amir and Rubel Hossain in the bowling department. However, the franchise has mainly focused on all-rounders. Thisara Perera, Ryan Burl, Gulbadin Naib, and Imad Wasim are among the top all-rounders in world cricket right now, having played all over the world in numerous T20 leagues. The main strength of this squad relies on so many match-winners who can win games with both the bat and the ball.
Squad: Mashrafe Mortaza (c), Thisara Perera, Mohammad Amir, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kamindu Mendis, Colin Ackermann, Ryan Burl, Mohammad Haris, Mushfiqur Rahim, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Rejaur Rahman, Raja Nabil Samad, Tawhid Hridoy, Rubel Hossain, Tom Moores, Gulbadin Naib, Zakir Hasan, Nazmul Islam, Akbar Ali, Sharifullah Tanzim, Hasan Sakib, Shamsur Rahman, Shafiqullah Ghafari, Imad Wasim
Then, the team has nothing to lose. Already, they don’t have a great history in the tournament, so the expectations of the fans will be slightly lower than those of the other team. And if they can perform collectively, then you never know. This team can also surprise any opposition on any given day. Former Bangladeshi cricketer Rajin Saleh will be the head coach of the team. The team has 24 players, including 10 overseas superstars.

Colin Ingram was the highest run-scorer for the franchise in the last season, and he ended as the fourth highest in the competition. Anamul Haque was also among the leading run-scorer in the tournament. But these two are not part of the current squad for the next edition.
