The 2023 ODI World Cup is scheduled to take place in India. It will kick off in three months time on October 5. The first game will be a rematch of the last edition’s final between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Ten teams will take part in the tournament and compete in a total of 48 games in a round-robin format.
Every team will play one game each against the other nine opponents during the group stage. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, and the final game will take place on November 19 in Ahmedabad. Earlier, eight teams made their way directly after doing well in the Super League, while Sri Lanka and Netherlands fought hard in the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023 to qualify for the mega event in India.
Sri Lanka’s Schedule, Fixtures, Date and Venues for ODI World Cup 2023
The 1996 ODI World Cup champions didn’t have a great performance in the ODIs in the last 10 months or so. It forced them to play in the World Cup Qualifiers along with the West Indies and Zimbabwe. But unlike these two teams, Sri Lanka was undefeated in the tournament. They ended up winning the final to qualify for the World Cup. Now Sri Lanka is the first qualifying team in the tournament. However, it was not an ideal scene for Sri Lanka to play in the qualifier. But they showed that they are still far better than other teams in the tournament. Sri Lanka will play their first World Cup match on October 7 against South Africa in Delhi.
