SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad made their debut in the Indian Premier League in 2012 after the termination of the Hyderabad-based Deccan Chargers. It gave inception to a new team, which was known as SRH. This team played their first season in 2013 and since then have become regular members of the tournament. Sunrisers had their best performance in 2016.
That was the season when this team went on to win the tournament under the leadership of David Warner. SRH always had a strong batting line-up, but they also had some bad days with the bat. Those days recorded some low scores for this team in the IPL. But SRH has been dismissed only once under 100. And in this article, we will discuss the list of lowest IPL scores for the Sunrisers in history.
3. SRH (114 all out) vs KXIP in 2020
The third lowest total for the Sunrisers came in a chase against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). It came in the 43rd game of the tournament in the Dubai stadium. SRH won that toss and decided to bowl first. The bowlers did a good job for them. The KXIP batters couldn’t score much and managed only 126/7 in their 20 overs. Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, and Jason Holder picked up two wickets each for SRH.
It looked an easy target for the Sunrisers. But in response, the SRH batting lineup failed miserably. Chasing a small target, SRH started well with a 56-run opening stand. But then, they lost 10 wickets for just 58 runs and got out for 114 runs in 19.5 overs. Thus, they lost the game by 12 runs in the end. Sunrisers’ IPL total was the third lowest in the tournament.
3. SRH (113 all out) vs MI in 2015
The second lowest total for Sunrisers Hyderabad came against Mumbai Indians in the 2015 season. It was the 56th match of the tournament in Hyderabad (DSC). After winning the toss, SRH chose to bat first. Batting first, Sunrisers had a poor display with the bat. They lost Shikhar Dhawan (1) and skipper David Warner (6) in the first two overs of the innings. After that, they couldn’t recover from that position.
The entire team got dismissed for 113 runs in 20 overs. KL Rahul was the highest run scorer, with 25 runs. In reply, MI batted well and it took only 13.5 overs to chase down the target. MI had a 106-run opening partnership. Eventually, they made 114/1 and won the game by nine wickets with 37 balls to spare. Thus, SRH suffered a 9-wicket loss with their second lowest score.
1. SRH (96 all out) vs MI in 2019
SRH has been dismissed 100-run only once in the history of the IPL. And it came against the Mumbai Indians in the 2019 season. This was the 19th game of the tournament in Hyderabad, and SRH won the toss and bowled first. It was a low-scoring thriller between the two teams. Batting first, MI could only manage 136/7 in their 20 overs. Keiron Pollard played a cameo of 46* off 26 balls.
It wasn’t a big target to chase, and SRH were favourites going into the second innings. But they had the worst batting performance in their history. Chasing a small target, the whole team got out for just 96 runs in 17.4 overs. As a result, MI won the game by 40 runs, courtesy of the best bowling figures in the IPL. It was Alzarri Joseph who took 6/12 to help MI win the match.
