Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the few franchises that have won the Indian Premier League. The Orange Army won the league in the 2016 season. 3. Shikhar Dhawan (led in 16 games)
Veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan was one of the most consistent performers for SRH in the league. He joined the team in the 2013 season when he was picked for a price of 1.38 crore. Dhawan then became a key member of the team at the top of the order. Although he wasn’t a full-time captain for any season in between, he led SRH in a few games.
He captained a total of 16 games for SRH and has 7 wins and 9 losses under his name. Dhawan was part of the franchise for six seasons between 2013 and 2018. He played 85 games for them and ended up as the second-highest run-scorer for the franchise. Dhawan scored 2518 runs at an average of 34.49 and a strike rate of 124.28, along with 19 half-centuries.
2. Kane Williamson (led SRH in 46 games)
The second most capped captain for Sunrisers Hyderabad was the Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson. He made his IPL debut in 2015 for SRH and played with the franchise for the next 8 seasons. The franchise released him ahead of the 2023 season. Williamson led the Orange Army in three seasons in 2018, 2019, and 2022, respectively, and also took charge midway through the 2021 season.
He led the franchise in a total of 46 games during his stint. The Orange army won 22 games, lost 23, and one game ended in a tie under him. Apart from winning in 2016, SRH qualified for the 2018 IPL season when Williamson was the captain. During his career with SRH, he has played 76 games and scored 2101 runs at an average of 36.22 along with 18 half-centuries. He won the “Orange Cap” in 2018 as a captain.
1. David Warner (led SRH to 2016 title)
Sunrisers Hyderabad won their maiden IPL title in 2016, which came under the leadership of David Warner. He was a brilliant player, brilliant captain, and brilliant competitor for the franchise. Warner was given the captaincy duties in the 2015 season and he led SRH in five seasons overall. Warner played a total of 67 games as a captain and has 35 wins with 30 defeats and two games that ended in a tie.
His numbers are just unbelievable in the IPL and he is the highest run-scorer for SRH. Overall, he was part of 95 games for Hyderabad, in which he scored 4014 runs at an average of 49.55 and a strike rate of 142.59. He also smashed two centuries and 40 half-centuries for them with a high score of 126.
