Royal Challengers Bangalore has been one of the most followed franchise in the Indian Premier League. They have always given their fans many brilliant memories in every season they play in the league. Some of the biggest names in the game have represented this franchise in the IPL. RCB has had AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, Shane Watson, Daniel Vettori, and many more.

1. 2009 season Final vs Deccan Chargers – Runners-up
Banglaore made thier first IPL appearance in the second season itself in 2009. They finished third in the table and faced the Chennai Super Kings in the semi-finals. RCB won that game to qualify for the finals of the 2009 season. In the final, they locked horns against the Deccan Chargers in Johannesburg on May 24, 2009. It was a low-scoring thriller, and the Chargers scored 143/6 in their 20 overs.
RCB skipper Anil Kumble bowled a brilliant spell of 4/16. It looked like an easy target to chase, but the Chargers bowled brilliantly. RCB started slowly and also lost wickets at regular intervals. Roelof van der Merwe (32 off 21) looked good for a while, but once he got out, RCB lost the plot. They only managed 137/9 and lost the game by 6 runs to finish as runners-up.
2. 2011 season Final vs Chennai Super Kings – Runners-up
After losing the 2009 final, RCB played their second IPL final in 2011 under the leadership of Daniel Vettori. Bangalore was the table-topper in the group with nine wins out of 14. But they lost Qualifier 1 against CSK by six wickets. However, RCB won the Qualifier 2 against MI to make it to their second IPL final. But they faced CSK in the final; it was their fourth meeting in that season.
Batting first, CSK posted a huge total of 205/5 with the help of a 159-run partnership for the first wicket. Michael Hussey (63 off 45) and Murali Vijay (95 off 52) were the top scorers. Chasing the score, RCB didn’t have a great start and lost their openers in three overs. Only Saurabh Tiwary (42* off 34) looked in control. Bangalore made 147/8 and lost their second final by 58 runs.
3. 2016 season final vs Sunrisers Hyderabad – Runners-up
Luck hasn’t gone in RCB’s way in the IPL. That’s the reason they have lost all of their three IPL finals. Their third final came in 2016, when they finished second in the group stage. Bangalore then won Qualifier 1 against the Gujarat Lions by 4 wickets to qualify for their third final. They locked horns with SRH in the final of the 2016 season. More than the game, it was the match between Virat Kohli and David Warner.
Batting first, SRH posted a massive score of 208/7. SRH skipper Warner scored 69 off 38 balls and was well supported by Yuvraj Singh (38 off 23 balls) and Ben Cutting (29* off 15 balls). However, RCB started the chase on a positive note. Virat (54 off 35) and Chris Gayle (76 off 38) added 114 runs in 10.3 overs. But soon after the first wicket, RCB faced a cluster of wickets that forced them to suffer an 8-run defeat. They made 200/7 and lost their third final.
