IPL 2023: One of the most popular team in the franchise cricket is Royal Challengers Bangalore. Although this team has not won any titles in the Indian Premier League, they have appeared in three IPL finals since the start of the competition. The 2022 season also went well for RCB. They ended the tournament in third place after losing the second qualifier to the Rajasthan Royals. However, they couldn’t qualify for the finals last season, but the franchise decided to retain most of the players they had in 2022.
That’s why the franchise was not left with much purse value. RCB released only five players ahead of the IPL 2023 auction, which was the least among all IPL teams. The mini-auction took place in Kochi on December 23, and the franchise looked pretty busy at the event. Despite a smaller purse, they ended up with some really decent buys.
RCB Squad 2023 for next edition of the IPL
RCB has kept almost the same squad that featured in the last season. Although they have made a few minimal changes to it, it is likely to be the same kind of squad that played in 2022. However, the team has picked up five uncapped players and will look to develop them for the future. The only concern for them will be the injury to Maxwell because he is a key member of the team.

IPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired English left-arm pacer Reece Topley as top buy
RCB has one of the biggest fan bases across the globe, which is loyal to them irrespective of the team’s performance. At the auction on Friday, the franchises entered with a remaining purse value of INR 8.75 crore. They didn’t spend huge bucks like the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings, but they did a decent job of picking those players, who can turn out to be a perfect back-up for the main players. The franchises looked quiet in the first half of the auction.
But they were seen as being quite active in the second half. RCB made their first deal by picking the English left-arm pacer Reece Topley, who took six wickets against India in a T20I in England. The franchise spent an amount of INR 1.90 crore for the pacer. He will add to the pace-bowling strength of the team along with Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj, and Harshal Patel. They also made a surprise pick when they acquired English young spin-bowling all-rounder Will Jacks for a price of INR 3.20 crore.
Jacks is a hard-hitting middle-order batter who can bowl some useful off-spin as well. He recently played for England in the test series against Pakistan. RCB has picked him as a possible replacement for the injured Glenn Maxwell, who might not make it in time when the IPL starts. RCB also tried to bid on veteran Indian batter Manish Pandey but couldn’t match the bid by the Delhi Capitals.
