RCB: Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of the most unpredictable teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The fan base of this team is huge because of the presence of current and former stars like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson and many more. But every team also has some off days on the field. Those were the days when a strong batting lineup also failed miserably. Thus, here we will talk about the lowest totals for RCB in the tournament. 3. RCB (70 all out) vs CSK in 2019 season
The third lowest total for Bangalore came against Chennai Super Kings in the 2019 season. It was the 1st match of the tournament in Chennai. CSK won the toss and chose to bowl first on a turning track. CSK went in with three specialist spinners, and their strategy was very good. RCB lost their first wicket for 16 runs, but after that there was a cluster of wickets.
Opener Parthiv Patel was the last man to get out in the 17.1 overs. The whole team got out for just 70 runs, and Parthiv made 29 runs. None of the other batters touched the 10-run mark. Harbhajan Singh (3/20) and Imran Tahir (3/9) did the damage. In reply, CSK also struggled a bit, but they chased down the target in 17.4 overs and made 71/3. This was RCB’s joint-third lowest total in the history of the IPL.
2. RCB (68 all out) vs SRH in 2022 season
The second lowest total for Bangalore came in the last season in 2022 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. It was the 36th game of the tournament at Brabourne Stadium. SRH won the toss and put Bangalore to bat first. RCB had a poor start and lost their first four wickets for just 20 runs in 4.2 overs. The rest of the batsmen also couldn’t play for long, and they kept on losing wickets.
In the end, the whole side was dismissed for just 68 runs in 16.1 overs. Only Glenn Maxwell (12) and Suyash Prabhudessai (15) scored above 10 runs. 12 runs were extra out of 68 runs. This was the second lowest total for Bangalore in their history. In response, SRH didn’t take much time and scored 72/1 in just 8 overs to win the match. SRH won the match by nine wickets with 72 balls to spare.
1. RCB (49 all out) vs KKR in 2017 season
Well, RCB holds the record of both the highest and lowest total in the history of the IPL. The lowest score came against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2017 season. It was the 27th match of the tournament at the Eden Gardens. RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first. In fact, the Bangalore bowlers bowled very well and restricted KKR to just 131 all out in 19.3 overs. Every RCB bowler chipped in with wickets.
It looked like the target of 132 runs would not be enough against the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Kedhar Jadhav. But what happened next was totally unexpected. None of the RCB players could touch the 10-run mark. Thus, the whole team was dismissed for the lowest IPL and RCB’s total of just 49 runs in 9.4 overs. KKR won that game by 82 runs.
