3. Pakistan (339/6) vs UAE in 2015
Pakistan registered their third biggest World Cup total against UAE during the 2015 World Cup. They made it in the 25th game of the tournament in Napier. After losing the toss, Pakistan was asked to bat first. Nasir Jamshed (4) got out early. But then, they had a 166-run stand for the second wicket between Ahmed Shehzad and Haris Sohail. Shehzad made 93 off 105, with eight fours and one six. Haris scored 70 off 83, with five fours and one six.
Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq scored a quick half-century and made 65 off 49, with four boundaries and two sixes. Shahid Afridi played a cameo of 21* off 7 balls. Pakistan finished with a score of 339/6 in the first inning. In response, UAE did try a bit, but they couldn’t manage against the Pakistani bowlers. They reached 210/8 and lost the game by 129 runs.
2. Pakistan (348/8) vs England in 2019
The second biggest ODI total for the 1996 World Cup winner came during the 2019 edition. It came against the hosts, England, in Nottingham. Batting first, Pakistan started with an 82-run opening stand between Fakhar Zaman (36 off 40) and Imam-ul-Haq (44 off 58). Then, they had the next three batters score a half-century each. Babar Azam made 63 off 66 balls, while skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed made 55 off 44 balls.
Mohammad Hafeez was the top scorer with 84 off 62 balls, with eight fours and two sixes. With some small cameos from the lower order, Pakistan reached a big total of 348/8 in the first inning. England also had an incredible batting performance. Joe Root (107 off 104) and Jos Buttler (103 off 76) scored centuries. But England fell short by just four runs and made 334/9 in their chase.
1. Pakistan (349 all out) vs Zimbabwe in 2007
Pakistan’s highest total in World Cup history came in the 2007 edition. It was the 17th game of the tournament against Zimbabwe in Kingston. After winning the toss, Zimbabwe chose to bowl first. For Pakistan, it was all about the one-man show. Opener Imran Nazir smashed his career-best ODI score. He made a 95-ball hundred and reached 150 off 116 balls. Nazir made 160 runs off 121 balls, with 14 fours and 8 sixes.
Inzamam-ul-Haq (37), Iftikhar Anjum (32 off 16), Younis Khan (28) and a few other batters also made small contributions. In the end, Pakistan scored a total of 349 runs in 49.5 overs. But after the first inning, rain interrupted the game. Zimbabwe got a target of 193 runs from 20 overs. But they only managed a 99-run all-out, and Pakistan won by 93 runs (DL method).
