One of the most followed franchises in the competition known as “The Hundred” is the Northern Superchargers. And one of the prime reasons is the leading all-rounder in world cricket, Ben Stokes. The team is based in a city called “Leeds” in England. It represents two county clubs, named North East and Yorkshire, in the competition.
In 2019, the franchise named David Willey as their skipper for the men’s cricket team. However, this edition might see Faf du Plessis leading the team. Speaking of their coaches, James Foster is the head coach of the men’s team. On the other hand, Danielle Hazell is the head coach of the women’s team.
However, despite having big names in their ranks, the Northern Superchargers had a poor outing in the first edition of the competition. With only three wins out of eight matches, the men’s squad finished in fifth place. While the women’s team ended up in 6th place with three wins. The home ground for both is Headingley.
Northern Superchargers: Complete Squad
Speaking of their stratergy in the 2022 draft, the franchise mainly focused on strengthening their bowling department. They are looking to get better, especially in the death bowling. The Northern Superchargers have picked up the veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and former Pakistani speedster Wahab Riaz as death specialists. Fu Plessis was not available for the last edition, but now he is back and will lead the team.
Two veteran all-rounders, Roelof van der Merwe and Luke Wright, will also be there this season. Adam Hose, who missed last season due to injury, will also be back. He brings a few options to the team. He can bat at the top of the order and in the middle as well.
Squad: Faf du Plessis (C), Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Adil Rashid, Adam Lyth, Ben Stokes, Callum Parkinson, Dwayne Bravo, Matthew Potts, John Simpson, David Willey, Adam Hose, Reolof van der Merwe, Wahab Riaz, Luke Wright.
