New York Strikers: To make cricket more entertaining, the UAE cricket board started a totally different cricket league in 2017. It was called the Abu Dhabi T10 League, which had some struggles in the early days. Because it offered a 10-over format, which was totally different from the T20 format. But soon it gained popularity around the world. And now it has become one of the top cricketing tournaments in the world.
Many superstars of the game play in this competition from all around the globe. It is a 10-over tournament. So far, the UAE has held five seasons of this league and the 6th season is scheduled to start on November 23 and will run until December 4. Two new teams have joined the competition and will face the existing six teams in the league. The upcoming season will see 34 games in total.
New York Strikers
One of the two new teams in the competition is the New York Strikers. Sagar Khanna is the owner of the new team, which will compete against the other teams in their maiden season. However, this team might not have the experience of the competition, but they have worked very well in the player draft. The team has named former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard as the captain of the side, and he is also the “icon” player in the team. The franchise announced earlier that former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh would mentor the team. Carl Crowe is the head coach.
New York Strikers Squad 2022
Speaking of the team, the franchise has certainly picked some T20 specialists that have experience of playing in various leagues. Pollard will lead the side, and former English captain Eoin Morgan is also part of the team. That will surely give the team all-important leadership experience. Paul Striling and Andre Fletcher will be the two batters who will open the innings. Both have enough experience of playing in different T20 leagues all across the globe.
Wahab Riaz, Kesrick Williams, Akeal Hosein, and Ravi Rampaul are some really good T20 bowlers. One big name that they picked is West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd, who was the star with both bat and ball in the last edition. Thus, this team is looking like a strong unit and has the skillset to win the competition.
