The 2023 ODI World Cup will start in India in October. Just like the last edition, it will have a total of ten teams playing against each other in a group stage. The top four will qualify for the knockout stage. This tournament will begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad. The first game will see the defending champion England facing off the last edition’s runner-up New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Eight teams made the direct entry to the tournament. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka and Netherlands qualified to the tournament after finished the recently concluded World Cup Qualifier 2023 at the top. Sri Lanka won the competition while Netherlands finished as runner-up after beating West Indies and Zimbabwe in the final. Notably, Netherlands will be the only associate nation to play in the upcoming World Cup in India.

Netherlands had a remarkable performance in the recently concluded World Cup Qualifier 2023 in Zimbabwe. They beat stronger sides than them, which helped them to finish the tournament as runner-up. Though they lost the final to Sri Lanka but qualified for the ODI World Cup in India. Netherlands surprised everyone and beat the likes of West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Scotland during the tournament and rightly booked a ticket to India. They will play their first World Cup game on October 6 (Friday) against Pakistan in Hyderabad.
