IPL 2023: The Mumbai Indians are the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League. They have dominated this league almost every season. MI has won the IPL title in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020, respectively. They have also been two time Champions League Twenty20 winners in 2011 and 2013, respectively. MI has played six IPL finals and won five of them, which shows clearly that the franchise knows how to perform at the right stage.
Although the 2022 season didn’t end as per expectations, the team finished last on the points table. MI won only four of the 14 group matches that they played and was 10th on the table. There were a few injuries, bad selection, unavailability, and poor form that became the problem for the five-time champions in 2022. But to rectify that, the franchises have made some big moves in the IPL auction 2023.
IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians went all out for Cameron Green in 2023 auction
Normally, the MI franchises never invest a huge amount in any player. But if they make their mood so they will go all out. That’s what the franchise did in the 2022 auction when they went for Ishan Kishan, making him the costliest player of the 2022 auction for a price of INR 15.5 crore. Something similar was seen at the auction table when the name of Australian all-rounder Cameron Green came out. MI entered the auction with a remaining purse value of INR 20.55 crore. But they were keen to add the Australian all-rounder to their team.
And despite a bidding war with a few franchises, finally, MI acquired Green for a whopping price of INR 17.25 crore, making him the second costliest player in the history of the Indian Premier League. The all-rounder is also the most expensive player ever purchased by the Mumbai Indians. Kieron Pollard retired from the IPL; thus, MI needed an overseas hard-hitting all-rounder, and Green falls into that category. So it was an obvious choice.
Meanwhile, the franchise also singed Australian pacer Jhye Richardson at his base price of INR 1.5 crore, which is considerably a steal deal. MI also needed a quality spinner, and they got one. The franchise roped in veteran Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla for INR 50 lakh. A few other buys from MI were Duan Jansen, Shams Mulani, Nehal Vadhera, and Vishnu Vinod at base price. The team is looking quite good now.
Then, adding Cameron Green will provide the right balance that the team lacked in the last season. Rohit Sharma will be leading the team. The likes of Tilak Verma, Dewald Brevis, and Tristan Stubbs are among the future stars in the game. All in all, this team is looking like the one to beat in the upcoming auction.

IPL 2023: Jofra Archer will be back with the team
Despite failing miserably in the last season, MI is looking very strong for the IPL 2023. The team already has some big names on it, and adding a few good players has made the squad more exciting. The duo of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav are doing wonders for India in international cricket. Then, MI has the deadliest bowling duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer. Both have almost recovered and will play for MI.
