Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the Indian Premier League. They are the only team to win five titles in this marquee league: in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020, respectively. Although MI has seen many ups and downs, There are times when they have been undefeated in the tournament, and there have been times when they have struggled to win a single game.
However, the record for Mumbai in the IPL finals is bloody brilliant. They have played in six finals in total, which is the second most after CSK (9). And out of those six finals, they have won five, which shows how good they are when the pressure is high. Here we will talk about MI’s final list in the IPL.

1. 2010 season Final vs Chennai Super Kings – Runners-up
The first time MI qualified for the IPL final was in the 2010 season. They were the table-toppers in the group stage with 10 wins and four defeats. MI won their semi-final against RCB by 35 runs to make their first IPL final. However, they couldn’t carry on the momentum. Mumbai faced CSK in the final and lost the game by 22 runs to end as runners-up.
2. 2013 season Final vs Chennai Super Kings – Champions
After the 2010 final, MI reached their next final in 2013. Mumbai won 11 games out of 16 to end the group in second place. In Qualifier 1 they locked horns with CSK and lost the game by 48 runs. Then they faced RR in Qualifier 2 and won that game by 4 wickets to advance to the final. They faced CSK again this time and it was a reveange time for them of their loss in 2010. That’s what MI did. They won the game by 23 runs to win their maiden IPL title.
3. 2015 season Final vs Chennai Super Kings – Champions
MI couldn’t defend their title in 2014. But then they won the next edition in 2015. Mumbai were the second-ranked team in the group stage with 16 points after CSK. As a result, MI and CSK played Qualifier 1, which Mumbai won by 25 runs to advance to the final. On the other hand, CSK also qualified for the finals. Thus, it was the third time that Mumbai and Chennai were facing each other in an IPL final. And it also ended in favour of Mumbai, as they beat CSK by 41 runs to win their second title.
4. 2017 season Final vs Rising Pune Supergiant – Champions
Mumbai played their next IPL final in the 2017 season. MI ended the group as the table-topper with 10 wins and four losses. But they lost in Qualifer 1 by 20 runs against Rising Pune Supergiant. In Qualifier 2, they played against KKR and won the game by six wickets to make the final. Pune Supergiant and MI played in the final of that season. It was a low-scoring thriller, and Mumbai won the game by one run to lift their third IPL title.
5. 2019 season Final vs Chennai Super Kings – Champions
After 2017, MI played another IPL final in 2019. Mumbai was the best team in the group with nine wins out of 14. They faced Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 and won the game by six wickets to make the final. Meanwhile, CSK also qualified for the final after beating DC in Qualifier 2. And it was the fourth final between Mumbai and Chennai, with MI winning two and CSK winning one. And the fourth meeting in the final also ended in MI’s favor. Mumbai won that game by 1 run to win their fourth IPL title.
6. 2020 season Final vs Delhi Capitals – Champions
Mumbai Indians won their fifth title in 2020. They were the table-toppers in their group with nine wins and five defeats. MI faced the Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1 and won it by 57 runs to move on to the final. Then in the final, they played DC once again. And this time as well, they won the game by five wickets to end as champions.
