Multan Sultans: The Pakistan Super League has now established itself as one of the premier leagues in world cricket right now. It features a total of six teams. Multan Sultans won the PSL title in 2021, beating Peshawar Zalmi by 47 runs. However, they reached the finals of the 2022 season as well, but they lost to the Lahore Qalandars.
But still, this team has achieved much success in this league. One such record is that they hold the record for the second highest total in the PSL. In this article, we will cover the list of the highest scores by the Multan Sultans in the history of the Pakistan Super League.
3. Multan Sultans (217/5) vs Islamabad United in 2022
Multan Sultans scored their top four PSL scores in 2022 season itself. They did a great job in that season and finished runners-up. Their third highest score came against Islamabad United at Karachi Stadium. Islamabad won the toss and put Multan out to bat first. Shan Masood gave them a decent start with a 31-ball 43. But the innings got a kick with a 110-run fourth-wicket partnership between Tim David and Rilee Rossouw.
David scored a 23-ball fifty and made 71 off 29 balls, with 6 sixes and 6 fours. Rossouw was not out on 67 off 35 balls. Multan scored a big total of 217/5 in their 20 overs. In reply, Islamabad kept losing wickets in their chase. Their skipper Shadab Khan was the lone survivor, who made 91 off 42 balls. Islamabad got all out for 197 and lost the match by 20 runs.
2. Multan Sultans (222/3) vs Peshawar Zalmi in 2022
Multan Sultans’ second-highest total came in 2022 against Peshawar Zalmi. It came at the Karachi National Stadium. Peshawar won the toss and decided to bowl first. But they couldn’t contain Multan from scoring a huge total. Batting first, Multan had three good partnership for the first three wickets. Shan Masood (35 off 25) and skipper Mohammad Rizwan gave them an 85-run opening stand. Rizwan got out after scoring 82 off 53 balls.
Tim David finished with an 18-ball half-century and an unbeaten 51 off 19, with two fours and six sixes. Khushdil Shah (21 off 7) helped Multan post their second highest score. They made 222/3 in their 20 overs. However, in reply, Peshawar couldn’t get going. As a result, they only reached 165/8 in their innings, losing by 57 runs in the end.
1. Multan Sultans (245/3) vs Quetta Gladiators in 2022
The highest total for the Multan Sultans, which is also the second highest in the PSL, came against the Quetta Gladiators in 2022 season at Lahore Cricket Ground. It started with Multan winning the toss and deciding to bat first. They got off to a flying start with two successive hundred-run partnerships. Their top three batters all scored half centuries. Shan Masood made 57 off 38 balls with six fours and one six.
Skipper Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten on 83 off 54 balls with seven fours and three sixes. But it was Rilee Rossouw who played a really good cameo with a 20-ball fifty. He made 71 off just 26 balls, with 9 fours and 4 sixes. Multan posted their highest PSL total of 245/3 in 20 overs. Chasing the target, Quetta got all out for 128 runs and lost the game by a massive margin of 117 runs.
