5. Virat Kohli – 641 runs in 2016
2016 was probably the best year for Vrat Kohli in the shorter format. In that year, he smashed 973 runs in the IPL and was also the best player in the T20 internationals. The former Indian captain helped India reach the semis of the 2016 T20 World Cup. Overall, he scored 641 runs in just 13 innings at an incredible average of 106.83 and a strike rate of 140.26.
4. Rohit Sharma – 656 runs in 2022
Rohit Sharma is also one of the most prolific scorers for India across formats. Especially in the T20s, he is too good and is the only player with four international centuries. In his T20I career, Rohit had his best year in 2022. He scored 656 runs in 29 innings at an average and strike rate of 24.29 and 134.42, with three half-centuries.
3. Shikhar Dhawan – 689 runs in 2018
Veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is another consistent player for India in white-ball cricket. Although he is not part of the T20s for India, he has some good numbers in this format. He scored the most T20I runs for India in 2018. The left-hander played 17 innings and scored 689 runs at an average and strike rate of 40.52 and 147.22, respectively. He also scored six half-centuries.
2. Virat Kohli – 781 runs in 2022
After scoring his long-awaited 71st century in 2022, Virat Kohli didn’t look back. The former Indian captain found his mojo back and scored the second most runs for India in T20Is. He was also the leading run-scorer in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Overall, Virat scored 781 runs in 20 innings at an average of 55.78 and a strike rate of 138.23 in 2022.
1. Suryakumar Yadav – 1164 runs in 2022
There is only one Indian batter who has scored more than 1,000 runs in a calendar year. And it is just unbelievable to know that he doesn’t bat in the top order. In fact, Suryakumar Yadav bats at No. 4 and doesn’t get many deliveries to face. But he has set some big records with his bat. SKY was at his peak in 2022 and scored 1164 runs in 31 innings at an average of 46.56 and an extraordinary strike rate of 187.43, with two centuries and nine half-centuries.
