BBL: The 12th edition of the Big Bash League will start on December 13. With the Perth Scorchers winning the last BBL edition, they will defend their title in the upcoming season. A total of 61 matches will be played in the tournament, including five playoff games. The schedule has been announced and the first match will take place between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Star.
With 11 successful seasons, the BBL has given a number of memorable performances over the years. The quality and competitiveness it brings, are among the best in the world. 5. D’Arcy Short (2553 runs) in 72 games
D’Arcy Short is at number five in the all-time BBL list of highest scorers. The southpaw made his BBL debut in 2016 with the Hobart Hurricanes. Since then, he has been an integral part of the team. Short has won numerous matches for his team. He has played a total of 72 matches and scored 2553 runs at an average and strike rate of 39.89 and 133.66, respectively. Short has also scored two centuries and 20 half-centuries in the BBL.
4. Jonathan Wells (2554 runs) in 111 games
Jonathan Wells is at number four among the highest run-getters in the BBL. He is among the most capped players in the tournament with over 100 games. Wells has been part of the tournament since its inception in 2011 and has played for the Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes. He has played 111 games and scored 2554 runs at an average of 34.92 and a strike rate of 122.78. Wells has also scored 14 half-centuries, with the highest score of 73.
3. Glenn Maxwell (2673 runs) in 100 games
Glenn Maxwell is ranked third in the BBL in terms of runs scored. He is among the most innovative T20 batsmen of all time. Maxwell has represented the Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars in 11 editions of the BBL. He has played 100 games and scored 2673 runs at an average of 33.83 and a strike rate of 150.84. Maxi has also hit two centuries and 18 half-centuries with a top score of 154*, which is the highest in the BBL.
2. Aaron Finch (2817 runs) in 87 games
Aaron Finch is the second highest run-getter in the BBL’s history. Finch has been part of the competition since the very first season in 2011 and has played for the Melbourne Renegades only. He has played 87 games and scored 2817 runs at an average of 34.77 and a strike rate of 134.01. Finch has also scored two centuries and 22 half-centuries, with a top score of 111*. He has hit the second most BBL half-centuries.
1. Chris Lynn (3005 runs) in 102 BBL games
For more than a decade, this man has been the face of the BBL. The veteran opener, Chris Lynn, is at the top of the list of highest run-scorers in the BBL. He made his BBL debut in 2011 with the Brisbane Heat and has been with the team since then. Lynn has played 102 games and scored 3005 runs at an average and a strike rate of 34.54 and 148.83, respectively, and is the only batter with 3000+ BBL runs. He has also scored one century and 24 half-centuries.
