5. Upal Tharanga – 10 ODI Centuries
Former Sri Lankan opener Upal Tharanga makes the fifth appearance on this list. The left-hander was a very elegant batter and was more effective in ODIs as compared to Test cricket. Tharanga had only three test centuries in his career, but in ODIs, he scored 15 of them. He played 235 ODIs and scored 6951 runs at 33.74, with 174 not out as his best. Out of his 15 centuries, 10 came from outside Sri Lanka.
4. Tillakaratne Dilshan – 13 ODI Centuries
Tillakaratne Dilshan started his career as a middle-order batter. But his career took off when he was asked to open the inning. The wicketkeeper turned all-rounder is regarded as one of the greatest ODI batters from Sri Lanka. He was part of 330 games and scored 10,290 at an average of 39.27 with a best of 161 not out. He is one of the few batters with a century in all three formats. Dilshan scored 22 ODI centuries in his career, and 13 came in away games.
3. Mahela Jayawardene – 14 ODI Centuries
Mahela Jayawardene was not just a great batter; he was also a great captain and tactician. He led his country in all three formats of the game and achieved success both as captain and as a batsman. Jayawardene was regarded as a classy batter who could attack as the situation demanded. He played 443 ODIs (most for Sri Lanka) and scored 12381 runs at 33.01, including 18 centuries and 75 half-centuries. Jayawardene had four centuries at home while 14 were away.
2. Sanath Jayasuriya – 21 ODI Centuries
Former Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya holds many records in Sri Lankan cricket history. He scored the highest individual score for Sri Lanka in ODIs (189), was the only player in history with 13000+ runs and 300+ ODI wickets, and was the first Sri Lankan to touch the 13000-run mark in 50-over cricket. Jayasuriya played 441 ODIs and scored 13364 runs with 28 centuries and 68 half-centuries, while 21 of his hundreds came outside Sri Lanka.
1. Kumar Sangakkara – 21 ODI Centuries
The record for the most away centuries for Sri Lanka in ODIs belongs to former wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara. The left-hander is considered among the best wicketkeeper batters who played across formats. Sangakkara was among the most consistent batters for his country, and the records suggest the same. He played 397 ODIs and scored 13975 runs at 41.96 with 25 centuries and 90 half-centuries, of which 21 centuries came in away games.
