South Africa was only the third team to debut in the game of cricket. They played their first official test match way back in March 1889, against England. Since then, they have been through many ups and downs and even faced a 21-year ban (1970–1991). But the standard of their game never went down.

5. Graeme Pollock – 2 Double Hundreds
Former batting start Graeme Pollock was probably the best left-hander, according to Don Bradman. Pollock played between 1963 and 1970 and appeared in 23 games. He scored 2256 runs at the third-best all-time average of 60.97. Pollock scored seven centuries and 11 half-centuries in 41 innings. He also scored two double hundreds, with a best of 274.
4. AB de Villiers – 2 Double Hundreds
AB de Villiers doesn’t need any introduction to this game. He has the fastest hundred across formats off just 21 balls (ODIs). He retired with many batting records to his name, which are still difficult to break. De Villiers played 114 tests in his career and scored 8765 runs at an average of 50.66, with a best of 278 not out. He also scored 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries, including two double centuries.
3. Gary Kirsten – 3 Double Hundreds
South African former captain Gary Kirsten was the head coach of India when they won the 2011 ODI World Cup. Well, his personal stats are also amazing. He was a brilliant opening batter who was one of the reasons South Africa became No. 1 in test cricket during his career. Kirsten played 101 tests and scored 7289 runs at 45.27, with 21 centuries and 34 half-centuries. He scored three double hundreds, with a best of 275.
2. Hashim Amla – 4 Double Hundreds
Hashim Amla was probably the best opening batter that played the game between 2005 and 2015. He remained at the top of the rankings in tests and ODIS for a long time. Amla is also the only batter from his country to score a triple ton in tests. Amla played 124 tests and scored 9282 runs at an average of 46.64, with 28 centuries. He scored four double tons with a best of 311 not out.
1. Graeme Smith – 5 Double Hundreds
Former South African captain Double Hundreds holds the record for most test wins and most capped captains of all time. Smith led his country in 109 tests and won 53 of them. He played 117 tests in his career and scored 9265 runs at 48.25, including 27 centuries and 38 half-centuries. Smith slammed five double centuries, including a best of 277 runs.
