The IPL is a batsman’s heaven where boundaries flow all around the ground. Whenever a player enters the pitch, his intention is to hit a century for his squad. In the IPL, there are many batsmen who have struck centuries for their team, for instance, Chris Gayle holds the record of hitting the most centuries in the IPL.

Chris Gayle (6 Centuries in 142 Matches)

There is no doubt about it that Chris Gayle is one of the greatest players in T20 cricket and with 6 centuries, he holds the record of making the most centuries in IPL. While playing against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 24th match of IPL 2011, Chris Gayle struck his maiden century with a spectacular performance of 102 runs off 55 balls. He made his last century or 6th century in the IPL against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018 with a stunning batting effort of 104 runs from 63 balls. In his IPL career, Gayle has served in 142 matches for different clubs and accumulated 4965 runs at the strike rate of 148.96. But in IPL 2022, Gayle will not participate and his presence will be missed by his fans. 

Virat Kohli (5 Centuries in 216 Matches)

Virat Kohli, the former Indian skipper, holds the 2nd position in the list of the highest century in IPL. Virat Kohli was not able to strike a single century in IPL till 2016. But in 2016, he struck 4 centuries and added a record 973 runs in a single season. Under the leadership of Virat in 2016, RCB reached the final where they were defeated by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Virat Kohli’s recent century or 5th century came in the 35th match of IPL 2019 against Kolkata Knight Riders where he added 100 runs from 58 balls. Virat Kohli has appeared in 216 IPL matches where he has contributed 6411 at the strike rate of 129.72.

David Warner (4 Centuries in 155 Matches)

David Warner, an Australian left-handed opener, is one of the most successful and powerful batsmen in the IPL tournament and is at the number 3rd position in the list of the most hundreds in IPL. David Warner has struck 4 centuries in the league and he added his maiden century against Delhi Daredevils in 2010. Under the leadership of David Warner, Sunrisers Hyderabad reached the final in 2016 and won the title of IPL for the first time which makes him a successful captain also. Warner’s recent century came in the 11th match of IPL 2019 against RCB, he added his 4th century with a superb batting performance of 100 runs off 55 balls. In his IPL career, Warner has appeared in 155 matches and added 5668 runs with a strike rate of 140.58 including 53 half-centuries.

Shane Watson (4 Centuries in 145 Matches)

Shane Watson, an Aussie all-rounder, holds the 4th position in the list of the most hundred in IPL. Shane Watson has added 4th centuries in IPL and his very first century came in the 30th match of IPL 2013 against Chennai Super Kings where he added 101 runs from 61 deliveries. He made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royal in the inaugural season of IPL and helped them to win the title of IPL. He struck 472 runs with a strike rate of 151.76 and took 17 wickets in 2008 that helped Rajasthan Royals lift the title in 2008. In 2018, he was in CSK where he again aided his team in the final competition to win the title by hitting unbeaten 117 runs while chasing a target of 179 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In his IPL career, he has been the greatest all-rounder for his squad with his brilliant performance of 3874 runs with a strike rate of 137.91 and 92 wickets. 

KL Rahul (4 Centuries in 102 Matches)

KL Rahul, a right-handed Indian batsman, is listed at the number 5th position for making the most centuries in the Indian Premier League. KL Rahul started his IPL career with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 but he had to wait for his maiden century for 6 years. In 2019, he played for Punjab Kings against Mumbai Indians where he added his maiden century with a superb effort of an unbeaten 100 runs off 64 balls. The interesting point about KL Rahul is that all 4 centuries are undefeated, and his best is an undefeated 132 runs which came in 2020. Currently, in 2022, he is playing for Lucknow Super Giant as a captain and he struck his most recent century in his last match against Mumbai Indians. In his IPL career, he has participated in 102 matches and has made 3641 runs with a strike rate of 137.45.
