The Caribbean Premier League is one of the top T20 leagues in the world, providing fans with plenty of action and excitement. The next edition of the CPL is around the corner, and the Jamaica Tallawahs will defend their title in 2023. A total of six teams will compete in the tournament to be the champions.
And some of the biggest stars from around the world feature in this tournament to make it a really big one. Colin Munro (One century and 14 half-centuries) in 65 games
In the CPL, 13 players have scored centuries, with 10 of them scoring one century each. Munro makes it to the fifth spot because he has also scored more fifties in the CPL. The left-hander made his CPL debut in 2016 for Trinbago Knight Riders and has remained with the club ever since. He has played a total of 65 games and scored 2519 runs, with one century and 14 half-centuries.
Evin Lewis (One century and 17 half-centuries) in 80 games
Next on the list is Evin Lewis, who also has one century to his name like the other batters but has the second most half-centuries. The left-hander has represented two franchises in his CPL career: the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and the Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel. He has played 80 games and scored 2213 runs at an average and strike rate of 29.50 and 143.60. He has scored one century and 18 fifties so far. His only century came against Trinbago Knight Riders in 2021.
Andre Russell (Two centuries) in 76 CPL games
The hard-hitting all-rounder, Andre Russell, makes it to third on the list. He has been part of the CPL since 2013 and has played only once, for the Jamaica Tallawahs, so far. In his CPL career, he has played 76 games and scored 1491 runs at an average of 31.06 and an incredible strike rate of 173.37. He has two centuries to his name, including the fastest CPL century (40-ball) and six half-centuries. His two centuries came against Trinbago Knight Riders in 2016 and 2018, respectively.
Devon Smith (Four centuries) in 65 CPL games
Devon Smith holds the record of scoring the joint-most centuries in the CPL’s history. That is the reason he is at number two. Smith played in the CPL from 2013 to 2019 for three different franchises overall. He represented the Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Jamaica Tallawahs in the CPL. He has played 65 games and scored 1655 runs with four centuries and eight half-centuries. Smith has scored centuries against St. Lucia Kings in 2014 and 2017, and Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2014 and 2017.
Chris Gayle (Four Centuries) in 85 games
When it is about scoring quick and big runs in the T20 format. Only one name comes to mind. And it’s Chris Gayle. The veteran opener is at the top of the list. He has always dominated irrespective of the team or tournament. Gayle has been part of the CPL since its inception in 2013. He has previously played for the Jamaica Tallawahs and the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Gayle has played 85 matches and scored 2519 runs at an average of 36.50 and a strike rate of 133.13. He has scored four centuries and 13 half-centuries in the CPL. Gayle has scored centuries against St. Lucia in 2014, Trinbago Knight Riders in 2015 and 2015, and St. Kitts and Nevis in 2019.
