MI New York Squad for MLC 2023

The success of the Indian Premier League indirectly forced other nations to develop their own T20 leagues. A number of countries introduced their T20 tournaments, like the BBL, PSL, CPL, ILT20, BPL, and many more. One of the prime reasons for growing T20 leagues around the world is that it helps the country grow this game locally.

And now, even the United States has introduced its own T20 tournament known as Major League Cricket. The first edition of MLC will take place with a total of six teams playing in the inaugural season. A total of 19 games will be played in the tournament, which will start on July 13 (Thursday). The first game will be between the Texas Super Kings and Los Angeles Knight Riders at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

MI New York: Details and Schedule

Six teams were shortlisted to purchase a team each in the inaugural MLC edition. Three of those teams are Indian Premier League franchises. The joint-most successful IPL franchise, the Mumbai Indians, have also purchased a team in this tournament, known as MI New York. This MLC team is based on the US city of New York, New York State. This team is owned by Indiawin Sports and has Marine Park Cricket Stadium as their home ground. They will open their campaign with a match on July 14 (Friday) at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. MI New York: Squad and Coaching Staff

MI New York has mainly roped in those superstars who have been part of the MI in the IPL to pique the interest of the players with the same franchise. They have named former MI star Keiron Pollard captain of the team in MLC 2023. Former South African all-rounder Robin Peterson is the head coach. Former MI pacer Trent Boult is also part of the team. Rashid Khan is also part of the team, which will surely strengthen the bowling attack.

The Australian duo of Tim David and Jason Behrendroff will also play for this team. They are also the current MI members. South African uncapped star Dewald Brevis is also in the team, along with Kagiso Rabada. Namibian all-rounder David Wiese will also don the team’s jersey in the coming tournament. All in all, the franchise has tried to retain the MI core that plays for them in other T20 leagues as well. MI New York has a team size of 19 players, including USA captain Monank Patel and all-rounders Steven Taylor and Nosthush Kenjige.
