Melbourne Renegades had one of the most contrasting performances in the history of the Big Bash League. They made their debut in the inaugural season in 2011 and have ended in the top four only four times. Meanwhile, in the other 8 seasons, they couldn’t even qualify for the playoffs. But they have won the BBL once, in 2018.

4. Andrew McDonald (First captain)
Former Australian middle-order batter Andrew McDonald was part of the Renegades’ setup for the first two seasons. He played seven games for them and was the first player to captain the team. All his seven games for the Renegades came as a captain, in which he had two wins and five defeats. McDonald also scored 164 runs at an average and strike rate of 32.80 and 126.15, respectively.
3. Tom Cooper (BBL Captain 2018-19)
Tom Cooper was one of the regular face for the Melbourne Renegades over the seasons in the Big Bash League. He joined the team in 2012 and parted ways after the 2020 season. During his tenure, he was part of eight games as a captain, with four wins and four losses. He played 71 games and is the third leading run-scorer for the franchise. Cooper has scored 1202 runs with six half-centuries.
2. Nic Maddinson (BBL Captain 2021-2022)
Nic Maddinson became the 10th player to lead the Melbourne Renegades when he led the team in a few games in 2021. He also captained the franchise in a few games when regular captain Aaron Finch was not available in 2022–23. Maddison joined the team in the 2021 season and led the team in 16 games with five wins and 11 defeats. During these games, he also scored 257 runs, with a best score of 87 runs.
1. Aaron Finch (led Melbourne Renegades to 2018 BBL win)
Aaron Finch was the captain who led the Melbourne Renegades to their maiden BBL title way back in 2018. He is the second-most-capped captain in the BBL, with the most for the Renegades. Finch has been part of the team since the very first season in 2011 and has led the team in a total of 79 games. Under him, the Renegades won 35 matches and lost 44. Finch is also the leading run scorer for the franchise with 3245 runs in 101 innings at an average of 35.27 and a strike rate of 132.17 with two centuries and 26 half-centuries.
