One of the most iconic cricket tournaments is all set to host its third edition in England. This is The Hundred 2023, which is scheduled to take place in England next month. The tournament will start on August 1, when the defending champion Trent Rockets will lock horns with the Southern Brave at Trent Bridge. The runners-up of the 2022 edition, the Manchester Originals, will try their luck once again.
The tournament will feature a total of 34 matches between eight teams, and the final will take place on August 27 at Lord’s. They are based on the English city of Manchester, and both the men’s and women’s teams play their home games at Old Trafford. The Manchester will play their first game against Welsh Fire on August 2 (Wednesday) at Cardiff.
Manchester Originals Complete Squad
Jos Buttler will be leading the team in the coming season once again, and Simon Katich will be the head coach. The franchise picked up three players in drafts and released 11 from the squad. They have a strength of 14 players. Apart from Buttler, Phil Salt will be another English regular on the team. Manchester has picked veteran Laurie Evans, Australian all-rounder Ashton Turner, and English pacer Josh Tongue in the draft 2023.
However, they have released some big names like Andre Russell, Ollie Robinson, Tristan Stubbs, and Colin Ackermann. This team that ended the last season as a finalist, losing to the Trent Rockets, will look to bounce back well in the next season. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Irish pacer Josh Little are the other overseas stars in the team aside from Turner. This team has got a lot of potential to become the new champions.
