LSG: The Indian Premier League 2022 season welcomes two new teams: the Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants. It made the competition a ten-team affair, which resulted in many surprises for the fans. The team that dominated the competition in the history of the tournament struggled badly. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians finished the 2022 season at the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, both new teams did pretty well. In fact, GT ended up winning the tournament in their maiden season under the leadership of Hardik Pandya.
On the other hand, LSG also finished the season in the top four under the captaincy of KL Rahul. However, they lost to the RCB in the eliminator and finished fourth on the table. But the franchise will look to improve on that performance and play better in the next edition of the IPL. LSG did a pretty good job in the IPL Auction 2023 and signed 10 players to complete their list of 25.
LSG Squad 2023
The spin attack looks very good with Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra. With Mark Wood and Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan will get support from Unadkat, Sams, and Naveen ul Haq. Rahul Tewatia has been doing a really good finishing job for the team since last season. But the inclusion of Romario Shepherd will also give the team a backup option. The team missed the chance in the 2022 season, but now they would like to make it count.

LSG signed West Indian star Nicholas Pooran for INR 16 crore.
Lucknow Super Giants entered the auction with a remaining purse value of INR 23.35 crore and 10 slots to fill. They made some exciting deals. But the biggest purchase the franchise made was the former West Indian captain Nicholas Pooran, who was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the auction. The left-hander was with SRH for a whopping amount of INR 10 crore. However, his batting form with the West Indies was very poor, and that was the reason SRH released him.
But who would’ve thought the Pooran would get a better deal than that? LSG acquired him for a whopping price of INR 16 crore, making him the fourth-most expensive player in the IPL Auction 2023. He is now getting more than LSG skipper KL Rahul (15 crore). The team was too dependent on Rahul and Quinton de Kock at the top and needed a good batter in the middle. Thus, Pooran might be a good signing. Apart from him, LSG also picked Amit Mishra for his base price of INR 50 lakh. He is the oldest player to play in the IPL.
Veteran pacer Jaydev Unadkat was another purchase for the franchise in the auction. Australia all-rounder Daniel Sams, West Indian all-rounder Romario Shepherd and Afghan pacer Naveen ul Haq were the other three overseas stars, LSG roped in during the event. The team is still looking highly dependent on the top order and a bit inexperienced in the pace bowling department.
