LSG: The Indian Premier League became a 10-team league in 2022. Two more teams were added to the competition to compete against the former eight teams. One of the two new teams was the Lucknow Super Giants. The franchise owned by Sanjeev Goenka made headlines by picking Indian vice-captain KL Rahul as the captain of the team.
They also named two-time IPL-winning captain Gautam Gambhir as the mentor of the team. LSG performed very well in their maiden season and reached the playoffs of the tournament. Despite a good season, there were a few games, where Lucknow failed poorly.

In this article, we will cover the list of lowest totals by LSG in the IPL.
LSG (153/8) vs RR in 2022
Lucknow has only played one season of the IPL. So it is not that they have much experience in the league. But still, they have failed to chase down some scores in their first season. Their third-lowest total came against Rajasthan Royal at Brabourne Stadium in May 2022. After winning the toss, Rajasthan chose to bat first. Batting first, RR made a total of 178/6 in their first innings.
It needed a good start from Lucknow’s opener for a big chase. But they couldn’t do that. LSG lost their first three wickets for just 29 runs in 5.3 overs. From there on, they couldn’t recover. Deepak Hooda tried hard and scored 59 runs off 39 balls. But none of the other batters supported him. Thus, Lucknow managed 154/8 in their innings and lost by 24 runs.
LSG (153/8) vs KXIP in 2022
Next on the list is Lucknow’s total against the Punjab Kings. It came in April 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium. Punjab won the toss and chose to bowl first. Quinton de Kock started well and made 46 runs off 37 balls, and Deepak Hooda scored 34 runs off 28 balls. But apart from these two, none of the other batters had significant totals.
Thus, LSG reached a total of 153/8 in their full quota of 20 overs. Chasing the target, Punjab also had a rusty start. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals. In the end, Punjab managed 133/8 in their chase and lost the game. Lucknow won that match by 20 runs. Mohsin Khan (3/24), Dushmantha Chameera (2/17) and Krunal Pandya (2/11) bowled pretty well.
LSG (82 all out) vs GT in 2022
The lowest IPL total and the only time Lucknow got all out below 100 runs came against the Gujarat Titans. It came in the 57th game of the 2022 season at DY Patil Stadium. After winning the toss, Gujarat chose to bat first. GT didn’t have the batting performance they would have wanted; they only scored 144/4 in their 20 overs. Shubman Gill made an unbeaten 63* off 49 balls.
It didn’t look like a big total to chase. But what happened next was a totally poor batting performance from Lucknow. They lost three wickets for 33 runs. Then LSG couldn’t recover from that point. In the end, the whole team got out for just 82 in 13.5 overs. Gujarat won the game by 62 runs. Rashid Khan picked up 4/24 for them and turned the game in favour of GT.
