T20 Cricket: T20 is a game of surprises, which is the reason it gives chills to the fans while watching. There is no doubt that the T20 came into recognition; it has totally changed the dynamics of the game. It has also affected the way to play in the other two formats as well. Now, no target is secure, even in ODIs and test cricket.
We’ve seen many teams push their limits and go berserk in games. Teams are even scoring 250+ plus in 20 overs. The highest total in T20I cricket is 278/3, which was made by Afghanistan.
But do you know what is the T20 lowest Score International ever made by a top team? So in this article, we will cover the lowest score by the top test-playing nations (associate nations not included).
3. New Zealand (60 all out) against Bangladesh at Mirpur
The third lowest total among the Test-playing nations comes under the name of New Zealand. And it came only last year, against Bangladesh at Mirpur. It was the first match of the five-match T20I series between the two nations. After winning the toss, the Black Caps elected to bat first. But it didn’t prove out to be a horrible decision. Batting first, the New Zealand batters couldn’t score against the Bangladeshi bowlers.
As a result, the whole team got out for just 60 runs, with Henry Nicholls and skipper Tom Latham scoring 18 runs each. And New Zealand registered their lowest ever total. Chasing the target, Bangladesh also lost both openers for just 7 runs. But then the middle order came to their rescue. They chased down the target in 15 overs and won the match by seven wickets.
2. West Indies (55 all out) against England at Dubai Cricket Stadium
The second lowest total is under the name of West Indies, which came in the last T20I World Cup. In a match against England at Dubai Cricket Stadium, England won the toss and chose to bowl first. The English bowlers proved the decision right for their captain, Eoin Morgan. In particular, the spinners kept the West Indies on the back foot. Moeen Ali (2/17) and Adil Rashid (4/2) were the stars.
As a result, the West Indies were bowled out for just 55 runs in 14.2 overs and registered the second lowest score among test-playing nations. In reply, England also lost a few early wickets, but they made 56/4 in just 8.2 overs to win the match by six wickets.
1. West Indies (55 all out) against England (Lowest in T20 cricket Test-playing Nations)
Notably, the West Indies have the unenviable record of having the second and third lowest T20 totals among Test-playing nations, and that too against England. It was the second match of the second match of the three-match T20I series at Basseterre. After winning the toss, West Indies chose to bowl first. England started badly and lost their first four wickets for just 32 runs. But after that, Sam Billings (87* off 47) and Joe Root (55 off 40) held the innings together.
England made 182/6 runs in their 20 overs. In reply, the Caribbean team put up a horrible show with the bat. The whole team got out for just 45 runs in 11.5 overs. Only two batters touched the 10-run mark. They lost the match by 137 runs and registered the lowest total in T20I.
